Haitian International Holdings Limited (“Haitian International”, together with subsidiaries and affiliates referred to as the “Group”; stock code: 1882), one of the world’s largest manufacturers of plastic injection molding machines, announces its annual results for 2021 (January 1 to December 31, 2021).

Global economy and business performance

Due to greater COVID-19 vaccination coverage, easing monetary and fiscal polices and increasing demand in various industries the global economy showed an overall positive trend in 2021. At the same time increased logistic costs, inflation, supply shortages and energy crises have still contained the global economic recovery. China’s domestic economy, benefiting from its strong manufacturing industry and loose investment and export policies remained stable overall.

For Haitian International the strong demand from domestic and overseas downstream industries in 1HY2021 and overall stability in 2HY2021 contributed to the remarkable results in 2021. In 2021 the sales of the Group amounted to RMB16,018.3 million, representing an increase of 35.7% compared to the previous year. A total of over 56,000 machines were sold, marking not only a historic overall record high, but also emphasizing the great recognition of the Groups products within the market.

Domestic sales amounted to RMB 11,088.2 million, representing an increase of 33.9% compared to the same period last year. Haitian’s annual exports exceeded 10,000 units for the first time, with total overseas sales reaching RMB 4,930.1 million. This represents a significant increase of 40.1% as compared to the same period last year, further increasing the overseas market share. The company recorded a notable increase in sales in key overseas markets such as North America and Southeast Asia, as well as a steady increase in sales in regions such as Europe and South America.

Benefiting from the Group’s application driven product developments and thorugh the overall growing demand in 2021, sales of the Haitian Mars Series – the Group’s main product – continued to increase steadily, reaching RMB 10,944.0 million for the year, representing a year-on-year increase of 33.2%.

Following the recovery of high-end industries and also the automotive sector both in China and overseas, sales of the Zhafir Electrical Series’ and the two-platen technology Haitian Jupiter Series reached an all-time high. They increased significantly by 44.3% year-on-year to RMB 2,077.5 million and by 54.8% to RMB 2,017.3 million, respectively.

Outlook and future strategy

Haitian International has always emphasized a global strategic focus. In China, the company will drive its corporate and market development in the future with two headquarters, in Ningbo as well as in Shunde, South China. The Shunde site is on schedule to be in the first phase and is expected to start trial production in the second half of 2022.

At the same time, Haitian will continue to strengthen its global footprint. In regard to the  projected high logistics costs, the Group will continue to develop overseas regional headquarters and expand overseas assembly and trade-oriented factories into integrated regional centers combining research and development, manufacturing, assembly, application, sales and service to localize production worldwide.

In parallel, the company will continue to expand R&D of application driven solutions for various industries to enhance the competitiveness of its products. The further implementation of digitization will aim to enhance quality and efficiency, optimize cost and create process synergies within the Haitian Group. Global economy and business performance

In 2020, the Covid 19 virus outbreak and its rapid spread into a pandemic severely shook the entire global economy. Nearly all countries and all major economies in the world are still reeling from the effects today. China’s economy benefited from strict preventive and control measures taken by the government and was soon able to return to positive growth and normal economic operation. Thanks to this rapid recovery in the domestic economic situation, the entire Group experienced strong, growing demand.

As a result, Haitian International posted a new sales record for the completed 2020 fiscal year, with well over 43,000 machines sold. This represents total sales of RMB 11,800.1 million and a year-on-year increase in sales of 20.3 percent.

Export increase due to global network

Although sales in some overseas markets were severely affected by the pandemic, the holding company recorded an increase in export sales thanks to the continuous expansion of its global network. They increased by 2.1% to RMB 3,518.5 million despite the pandemic.

Due to the strong demand for mass medical products and packaging in the first half of the year, there was a new sales record of the Haitian Mars Series with more than 37,000 machines sold. As a result, the 2020 annual sales of the best-selling Series increased by 28.6% year-on-year to RMB 8,214.5 million. The household goods and automotive markets also saw growth in 2020, despite Corona. This mainly benefited the electric Zhafir Series as well as the Haitian Jupiter Series with two-plate technology. Here, sales increased by 6.8% to RMB 1,439.9 million and by 3.2% to RMB 1,303.0 million, respectively.

Outlook and future strategy

Haitian International formulated a general overview of its five-year plan strategy at the beginning of 2021. Key objectives include strengthening its global market presence and consistently expanding its market share. Mr. Zhang Bin, Executive Director of Haitian International, said, “With industry-specific solutions, we will increase competitiveness in the high-end market, among others, and advance digital manufacturing solutions.” Of particular importance in this context is the digitalization of in-house manufacturing, especially in terms of R&D, intelligent production processes, digital system integration and process control.

Furthermore, the focus is on the standardization of machine components to further increase efficiency, especially in the optimization of technologies as well as smart manufacturing. “With the establishment of a young and innovative team, we will focus more on manufacturing processes and improve production capabilities in terms of flexibility and intelligence. Haitian International Holdings Limited (“Haitian International”, together with its subsidiaries and affiliates referred to as “the Group”; share code: 1882), one of the world’s largest manufacturers of plastic injection molding machines, announces its (unaudited) interim results for the period from January 1 to June 30, 2019.

Reforms and flexibility

Mr. Zhang Bin, Executive Director of Haitian International, said: “The market environment continues to be difficult, but we see this as an opportunity. The cash flow record in the operating business shows that profound internal operative reforms and their activities to increase flexibility and productivity are now working. The targeted investments of the previous years in flexibility and modernization of the plants are also effective. “Many individual activities have also led to improved efficiency, such as flexible working hours and innovative multiple shift operation, flexible contracts with suppliers, our 16+8 principle and much more. In such a difficult economic situation, the company was able to react extremely flexibly and achieved a continuous further development with high added value despite the difficult market environment. “

Global trade conflicts and increased trade protectionism led to a slowdown of global economic growth, so that Group sales in the reporting period amounted to RMB 5,008.9 million. This corresponds to a decrease of 14.8 % compared to the same period of the preceding year. In view of the current market data, e.g. from Europe, the USA or Japan, the industry recorded significantly higher sales losses in international comparison, so that it can be assumed that Haitian International will gain slight market shares overall.

Domestic sales of Haitian International decreased by 20.5 % to RMB 3,320.2 million due to the slowdown in global economic growth and the lack of customers confidence in to invest in new machinery. Trade protectionism and the devaluation of certain currencies have led to a decline in sales in most of the Group’s overseas markets. The export turnover of RMB 1,546.5 million corresponds to a decrease of 2.1%.

Sales development of the series

The slowdown in domestic economic growth and the changed economic environment have also had a significant impact on the sales figures of the Haitian Mars Series. In the first half of 2019, sales fell by 18.9 % to RMB 3171.5 million. Nevertheless, the servo-hydraulic bestseller remains the world’s most successful injection molding machine.

The differentiated product strategy – electric machines in the small and medium-sized sector, two-platen machines in the medium and large sector – continues to enjoy growing acceptance among plastics processors. Improved technologies and higher-quality machines are increasingly in demand on the market, with the result that electrical solutions are increasingly replacing hydraulic ones. This partly explains the declining sales figures for the Mars Series.

The absolute turnover of the electric Zhafir Series rose by 13.6 % to 773.1 million RMB. Sales of Zhafir electric machines out of the small tonnage injection molding machines continued to grow and amounted to 22.5 %.

Meanwhile, the share of JU machines sold from medium and large clamping force classes rose to 44.1 %.

Years of management innovation

Haitian International will continue to pursue internal reforms to improve efficiency. For example, the introduction of new management software platforms and the increased development of younger and focused management teams, as well as the switch to digitized operative factory management. The years 2019 and 2020 were seen internally as milestones of management innovation.

Annual sales of RMB 10.85 billion in 2018 again at record level despite global slowdown in economic activity +++ Electrical series achieve 49.8 % increase in sales +++ New investments around the globe

March 18, 2019 – Hong Kong. Haitian International Holdings Ltd (“the Company”), one of the world’s largest manufacturers of plastic injection molding machines, announces its annual results as at 31.12.2018.

In the fiscal year of 2018, the Company’s sales reached 10,851.3 million RMB, representing a sales increase of 6.5 % compared to 2017. Despite the complicated economic and political environment at domestic and international levels, Haitian International achieved an excellent sales performance thanks to its outstanding technologies and flexible strategies.

Growth in domestic and export business

Contrary to the background of declining capital investment in China, domestic sales increased by 4.6 % to RMB 7,311.2 million. This enabled the Company to further develop its leading position in the domestic market.

The overseas markets were affected by growing trade barriers, whereby sales on the US market declined. However, our earlier increased investments in global expansion enabled us to significantly increase our sales in other regions. Coupled with the economic recovery in emerging markets, our export sales rose by 9.4 % to RMB 3,231.9 million.

Electric Machines and Two-Platen Technology on the Upswing

As domestic macroeconomic growth has slowed and the sale of the Mars series – Haitian’s top seller – is very sensitive to variable economic conditions, sales of the Mars series fell to RMB 6,872.8 million in 2018, a slight decline of 2.8%. Still, more than 28,0000 Mars machines were sold in 2018, taking it to a total number of more than 230,000 Mars machines sold worldwide since its introduction.

Nevertheless, the company’s ongoing business strategy of converting small-tonnage plastic injection molding machines to all-electric technology and large-tonnage machines to two-platen technology met the escalating needs of markets, industries, modernization and replacement.

The sales performance of the electric Zhafir series and the two-platen machines reached 1,514.1 million RMB and 1,500.4 million RMB respectively, in 2018. This corresponds to an increase of 49.8 % and 13.4 % respectively compared to the same period of the previous year. The percentages of total corresponding sales in small-tonnage machines and big-tonnage machines now account for 22.9 % and 38.2 % respectively.

Perspectives and future strategy

Looking to the future, Zhang Bin, Executive Director of Haitian International, said: “In view of the global slowdown in economic dynamism and in times of uncertain trade conflicts and increasing protectionism, we remain cautious about China’s and the world’s economic outlook for 2019. In order to be less vulnerable to future crises for the global competitive environment in such complicated economic situations, we have implemented internal reforms and declared 2019 the year of innovative management.”

The Company is on track to introduce an innovative management concept for Integrated Product Development (IPD). The goal is to better align sales, technology and application services with the needs of the market and improve responsiveness to new trends. Zhang continued: “As our international business continues to grow, Haitian International will continue to expand its investments. We are developing manufacturing centers, assembly centers, application centers, distribution centers, and service centers overseas to drive our global business.”

In addition, the company relies on its own R&D innovations and the third generation of its plastic injection molding machines, with improved technology and a stronger price/performance ratios. Fast-cycling machines, which focus on various applications in the mid to high-end market, were launched in early 2019.

According to Zhang, “Haitian is gradually strengthening its leading position in the industry. Although we have set a milestone in the industry with the Mars series, the world’s best-selling injection molding machine, we will continue to develop new products and be a leading manufacturer in every aspect. In the coming year Haitian will be exposed to more global risks and uncertainties, but there will also be new opportunities and we are confident that we will face the challenges. Through quality and service, we will continue to create customer benefits and added value in order to move forward and grow together with our customers, investors, employees and partners.”

WHAT A GREAT DAY! GRAND OPENING IN GERMANY

A familiar celebration at Haitian International Germany together with 680 guests from 15 nations.

On 06.06.2016 – the number 6 means luck – the official opening ceremony took place along with Mr. Zhang Jianming, CEO of Haitian International and Mr. Zhang Jianfeng, Deputy CEO of Haitian International. The Mayor of Ebermannsdorf, Josef Gilch, brought a special gift: The new access road to the company is now officially registered as “Haitian street”.

This event marks an important milestone for the team in Germany. Mr. Xiang Linfa, General Manager of Haitian International Germany, explains: “We want to be more responsive to the needs of our customers and meet their requirements from the relevant industries as best as possible. This has always been our company philosophy. With the second plant we have given ourselves more space to e.g. test complete production cells also with larger series. ”

Around 180 machines welcomed the guests, even though most of them have already been sold.

Assembling of Mars and Jupiter machines

After around 9 months of construction – the official ground-breaking ceremony was on 01.09.2015 – the 8,000 square meter new building (7,500 sqm manufacturing area) was opened for the numerous guests out of the plastics industry and regional politics. Effective immediately, servo-hydraulic machines of the Mars II and Jupiter II Series will be assembled in this hall for the European market, customized for customers and tested through its paces. The production range covers clamping forces from 600 to 30,000 kN. With growing focus to the energy-saving two-platen Jupiter II Series (entire range 4,500-88,000 kN). At the Grand Opening visitors could already get an idea of the performance of the two-platen technology, since several Jupiter machines with up to 21,000 kN demonstrated their dynamics and precision live in action.

In the first hall, built in 2009, the electrical Zhafir machines Venus II Series and Zeres Series will continue to be assembled with clamping forces from 400 to 6,500 kN. The application center in the Zhafir hall offers mold tests and trainings for German and European customers.

More capacity in service & support

With the commissioning of the 2nd factory, Haitian International Germany has a significantly extended production capacity. This will increase the availability of the machines “to go” as well as the speed of delivery time of spare parts.

More service strength in the fields of pre- and after-sales was the second important aspect in the investment decision of the Haitian Group for the site in Germany. “The new hall and the resulting space gives us many more opportunities to offer mold testing on production cells with larger machines,” says Philippe Porret, Deputy Manager of Haitian International Germany. “We are simultaneous growing in all areas. In assembling and system development, in sales and service structures, and in all levels of support. ”
